Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal criticised the conduct of the Congress party in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, saying that Leader of Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa misused the speaking time allotted to the Congress and did not allow other Congress MLAs to participate in the debate.
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that the Assembly runs according to established rules and procedures and cannot be treated like a personal stage by any individual. He pointed out that the Speaker had allotted 16 minutes to the Congress party during the discussion, but Partap Singh Bajwa alone spoke beyond the allocated time and did not allow other Congress MLAs to present their views.
“These MLAs are not even allowed to speak inside the House by Bajwa, and then they come outside and create unnecessary noise,” said Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal.
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal also objected to Partap Singh Bajwa repeatedly highlighting his past positions such as MP, minister and MLA. He said that such behaviour was inappropriate for the dignity of the House. “The Vidhan Sabha is not a street corner of Qadian where anyone can say whatever they want without following rules. The House functions under a proper system and discipline,” he said.
Targeting the Congress further, the AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson reminded them of their unfulfilled promises from the 2017 manifesto released under former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. He challenged the Congress to present that manifesto and have a discussion on how many of those promises were actually fulfilled.
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal asserted that the AAP is fully prepared for an open debate on promises and performance. “Let us discuss what Congress promised in 2017 and what AAP promised in 2022 and how much we have delivered. We are ready for a debate anywhere, anytime,” said Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal.
