Indian Oil District Badminton Championship: Samridhi & Madhav emerge winners

The Indian Oil District Badminton Championship being organized by the District Badminton Association at Raizada Hansraj Stadium concluded on Sunday. Sharing details about the tournament, DBA Secretary and former national player Ritin Khanna said 600 players participated in 35 competitions in the 4 day championship.

In the closing ceremony, chief guest Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal and Jalandhar Division Head of Indian Oil Rajan Berry awarded the winners. For the first time in the 50 year history of DBA, attractive cash prizes of Rs 5 lakh were given to the winners. Former international player Shri Manohar Lal Mago was honoured with the Raizada Hansraj Sondhi Lifetime Award.

The results of the final matches of the championship were as follows:-

In the women’s singles category, Samridhi Bhardwaj stood first, Jasmin Malhi stood second, Simran Gilhotra and Ritika Sharma stood third. Madhav Kannaujiya won the men’s singles title.

Divyam Sachdeva stood second, Anish Bhardwaj and Ashu Kumar stood third. In the mixed doubles category, Manmohit Sandhu and Manya Ralhan stood first, Ashu Kumar and Samriddhi Chopra stood second.

In girls’ singles (Under 19), Samridhi Bhardwaj stood first, Simran Gilhotra stood second and Sania and Akshita Sharma stood third. In the girls’ doubles category (Under 19), the pair of Manya Ralhan and Saanvi Ralhan stood first, Sania and Simran Gilhotra stood second.

In the girls’ doubles category (Under 17), the pair of Manya Ratti and Sanya stood first, Janya Kochhar and Tanishka Chauhan stood second. In the boys’ doubles category (Under 17), Adil Goyal and Vansh Batra stood first, Geetansh Sharma and Prathamnoor Singh stood second.

In the girls’ singles category (Under 17), Inayat Gulati stood first, Simranpreet Kaur stood second, Loveleen Sharma and Sania stood third. In the boys’ singles category (Under 17), Viren Seth stood first, Danish Bhanot stood second, Samarth Bhardwaj and Geetansh Sharma stood third.

In the girls’ singles category (Under 15), Inayat Gulati stood first, Saanvi Ralhan stood second, Shivali Sharma and Manya Ratti stood third. In the boys’ singles category (Under 15), Viren Seth stood first, Zorawar Singh stood second, Ayaan Jain and Manthan Dogra stood third. In the girls’ doubles category (Under 13), the pair of Manseerat Kaur and Surveen Kaur stood first, Myra and Myrah Chopra stood second.

In the boys’ doubles category (Under 13), the pair of Ishan Sharma and Zorawar Singh Lubana stood first, Deepansh Kundra and Viaan Jain stood second. In the girls’ singles category (Under 13), Inayat Gulati stood first, Manseerat Kaur stood second, Surveen Kaur and Inaz Jain stood third.

In the boys’ singles category (Under 13), Deepansh Kundra stood first, Zorawar Singh Lubana stood second, Ansh Sharma and Ishan Sharma stood third.

In the girls’ doubles category (Under 11), the pair of Aina Chopra and Varanya Soni stood first, Hargun Kaur and Tanvi Bansal stood second. In the boys’ doubles category (Under 11), the pair of Hitarth Bhardwaj and Japmanjot Singh Dhami stood first, Aryansh Shivkar and Ujjwal Bharti stood second.

In the girls’ singles category (Under 11), Hargun Kaur stood first, Varanya Soni stood second, Nimrat Kaur Mann and Aina Chopra stood third. In the boys’ singles category (Under 11), Agamjot Singh stood first, Japmanjot Singh Dhami stood second, Vansh Sharma and Hitarth Bhardwaj stood third.

On this occasion, Interim Committee Chairman Dr. Jai Inder Singh, Treasurer Palwinder Juneja, Rakesh Khanna, Mukul Verma, Aman Mittal, Ravneet Takhar, Kusum KP, Naresh Budhia and Dheeraj Sharma were present.
