Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday carried out a minor reshuffle in his Cabinet, reallocating portfolios of two ministers.
According to sources, the responsibilities of Cabinet Ministers Sanjeev Arora and Dr. Ravjot Singh have been revised as part of the reshuffle.
Sanjeev Arora, who was handling the departments of Industry, Commerce, NRI Affairs, and Power, has now been entrusted with the additional charge of the Department of Local Bodies. At the same time, he has been relieved of the NRI Affairs portfolio. With Industry, Commerce, Power, and Local Bodies under his charge, Arora’s standing within the Cabinet has further strengthened.
Arora, a Rajya Sabha member who resigned after contesting and winning the Ludhiana West by-election, was earlier inducted into the Cabinet as Minister for Industry and Commerce and was later assigned the Power portfolio. The addition of the Local Bodies department now places him in charge of three major and influential ministries.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ravjot Singh, the MLA from the Sham Chaurasi Assembly constituency in Hoshiarpur district, has been divested of the Local Bodies portfolio. He was previously holding charge of Local Bodies and Parliamentary Affairs. Following the reshuffle, Dr. Ravjot Singh has been assigned the Department of NRI Affairs.
The Cabinet reallocation is seen as part of the Chief Minister’s ongoing efforts to streamline governance and optimise ministerial responsibilities.
