In order to facilitate residents in clearing their property tax dues under the One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme announced by the Punjab Government, all Municipal Council offices across SAS Nagar district will remain open on Saturday and Sunday as well, informed Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, here today.
Appealing to residents to take full benefit of the scheme, the Deputy Commissioner said that the last date to clear dues without penalty and interest has been extended till August 31, 2025. “After this deadline, recovery will be made with applicable penalty and interest,” she added.
Highlighting the encouraging response from citizens, Ms. Mittal informed that the district has so far collected a total of Rs 27.35 crore in property tax dues since July 1. Among the Municipal Councils, Zirakpur has topped with collections of Rs 16.88 crore, followed by Kharar (Rs 4.78 crore), Derabassi (Rs 2.62 crore) and Lalru (Rs 1.18 crore). Other notable contributions include Kurali (Rs 75 lakh), Nayagaon (Rs 63.25 lakh) and Banur (Rs 48 lakh).
She further said that the overwhelming response to the OTS scheme reflects citizens’ cooperation in strengthening urban local bodies and ensuring better civic amenities.
She said that lists of property owners who have not paid property tax in last year’s have been prepared and ULB’s are contacting them and encouraging them to take benefit of this scheme. If they do not pay during this period, then action as per rules will follow.
