Akali, Congress bigwigs patronising drug lords in Punjab: Meet Hayer

Chandigarh, November 24, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has slammed the Capt Amarinder Singh government for its failure to check the blind sale of illicit liquor in the state, saying that had the Chief Minister been alive to the issue, the lives lost in the hooch tragedy in the Majha region could have been saved.

In a statement issued from party headquarters here on Tuesday, state youth wing president and Barnala MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, said that the power-drunk chief minister, who was enjoying kingly comforts at his Siswan farmhouse, was totally unaware of how spurious liquor was being smuggled and sold in Punjab without scantest fear of the law.

The youth leader further said post the rap to state government by Punjab and Haryana High Court over the sale of illicit liquor, Captain needed to come out of the supine pastures and take an urgent call on the unhindered sale and smuggling of illicit blew and save innocent lives being lost owing to the indifferent stance of the government led by him.

Hayer lamented that the Captain government had failed to take action against those behind the deaths of hundreds of people due to the consumption of spurious liquor in Majha region of Punjab, which had corroborated the collusion of the ruling Congress top brass in the illegal trade.

He added that the recent arrests of drug traffickers in the state proved the point that the people from the high and lower echelons, to the level Chief Minister’s OSD, among others, were involved in the illegal trade of liquor smuggling, while CM was all for extending cover to those involved.

Castigating the Akalis and Congress, Hayer said that both had been protecting drug smugglers whenever they wrested power in the state, saying they had been slandering each other just to deflect the peoples’ attention from the core issues, but both were one with the drug lords and giving them a free hands.

Hayer said that Aam Aadmi Party had always been fighting against drug smugglers in Punjab enjoying political patronage of the Akalis and Congress.

He said that the party (AAP) would fight at all levels to eradicate the menace of the drug mafia from the state. He appealed to the youth of Punjab to come forward and extend support to the Aam Aadmi Party in its fight against drug mafia active in the state.
