Former NFL Player Kevin Ware Jr. Sentenced to 30 Years for Murder of Girlfriend Taylor Pomaski

Kevin Ware Jr. Accepts Plea Deal in Brutal 2021 Murder

Texas, May 8,  2025 (Yes Punjab News)

Former NFL player Kevin Ware Jr. has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to the 2021 murder of his 29-year-old girlfriend Taylor Pomaski. Ware, a former tight end who played for the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers, accepted a plea deal on Wednesday, admitting to the horrific killing and subsequent burning of Pomaski’s body.

Timeline of the Crime

Taylor Pomaski was last seen at a party at her home in Spring, Texas, on April 25, 2021. Two days later, she was reported missing by concerned family members. Friends and acquaintances later revealed that she had been in a tumultuous and allegedly abusive relationship with Ware, and had expressed fears for her safety.

Her remains were discovered in December 2021 in a ditch in north Harris County, nearly eight months after her disappearance. Texas EquuSearch located the remains during a coordinated search operation.

Details of the Crime

According to court documents, Ware inflicted multiple forms of violence upon Pomaski—cutting her with a knife, bludgeoning her with a blunt object, and ultimately strangling her to death. He then attempted to destroy evidence by burning her corpse. Prosecutors charged him with murder and tampering with a human corpse on July 28, 2021.

Ware’s Legal Troubles Beyond the Murder

Ware’s legal troubles extend beyond this conviction. In a separate case from April 2021, he was pulled over for speeding—reportedly driving at 115 mph. Upon searching his vehicle, authorities found drugs including methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as multiple firearms, including a loaded AK-47.

Already a convicted felon, Ware was charged with unlawful possession of firearms and intent to deliver a controlled substance. In December 2022, he accepted a plea deal and received a 15-year sentence to run concurrently with his murder conviction.

Statements from the Victim’s Loved Ones

During the investigation, Eric Zuleger, a former boyfriend of Pomaski, stated that she had reached out to him for help. “She was trying to leave the relationship and rebuild her life,” he shared in an interview with KHOU 11 News. Her family is expected to deliver victim impact statements in court, highlighting the emotional toll of her tragic loss.
