The Government of Punjab, through the Department of Home Affairs (Home-I Branch), on Monday ordered a major reshuffle of senior IPS officers on administrative grounds, with immediate effect.
The transfer and posting orders were issued in the name of the Governor of Punjab and approved by the competent authority, significantly reshaping key wings of the Punjab Police including Human Rights, Security, Intelligence, Vigilance, Border Range, Headquarters, and Welfare.
Key Transfers and Postings
- Naresh Arora (IPS, RR:1994), who was serving as Special DGP, Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC), Chandigarh, has been posted as Special DGP, Human Rights, Punjab, Chandigarh. He will continue to hold additional charge of Special DGP, PSHRC, Chandigarh.
- S.S. Srivastava (IPS, RR:1994), earlier Special DGP, Security, Punjab, Chandigarh, has been transferred and posted as Special DGP, Headquarters, Punjab, Chandigarh.
- P.K. Sinha (IPS, RR:1994), who was serving as Special DGP, Intelligence, Punjab, SAS Nagar, with additional charge as Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau, Punjab, has now been appointed as Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau, Punjab.
- Dr Kaustubh Sharma (IPS, RR:2001), earlier ADGP, Human Rights, Punjab, Chandigarh, has been posted as ADGP, Security, Punjab, Chandigarh.
- Dr Sukhchain Singh (IPS, RR:2003), previously serving as IGP, Headquarters, Punjab, Chandigarh, has been transferred and appointed as IGP, Intelligence, Punjab, SAS Nagar, where he will serve as Head of the Wing.
- Sandeep Goel (IPS, SPS:2011), who was DIG, Border Range, Amritsar, has been posted as DIG, AGTF-2, Ludhiana, while retaining additional charge of DIG, Border Range, Amritsar.
- Maninder Singh (IPS, RR:2019), earlier posted as SSP, Ropar, has been transferred and appointed as AIG, Welfare, Punjab, while continuing to hold additional charge as SSP, Ropar.
- Kanwaldeep Singh (IPS), who was serving as AIG, Crime, Bureau of Investigation (BoI), Punjab, Chandigarh, has been posted as AIG, Personnel-1, Punjab, Chandigarh.
Immediate Joining Directed
The order directs all officers concerned to join their new places of posting immediately.
Order Issued by Home Department
The transfer order was issued by Alok Shekhar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Punjab, Department of Home Affairs, and signed by Kailash Gautam, Under Secretary, Home Affairs.
Copies of the order have been forwarded to the Union Home Secretary, Punjab Chief Minister’s Office, Director General of Police, Punjab, Vigilance Bureau, Department of Personnel, Director, Information and Public Relations, and other concerned authorities for information and necessary action.
The reshuffle is being seen as a significant administrative exercise aimed at strengthening vigilance, intelligence gathering, internal security, and police administration across the state.
