Why didn’t Beadbi Insaaf Morcha take out a march when charge sheets were filed in sacrilege cases: Romana

Faridkot, February 28, 2023 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary Parambans Singh Romana today asked why the Beadbi Insaaf Morcha did not take out a ‘thanksgiving’ march after charge sheets were filed in the three cases of sacrileges of 2015 even as he accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of politicizing the Kotkapura firing case.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Parambans Romana said it was strange that the Insaaf Morcha had not taken out any marches to Sri Akal Takht Sahib, as it wanted to do now on March 5, when final charge sheets had been filed in the sacrilege cases. “This indicates that the Morcha is being used to settle political scores by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and is politicizing the unfortunate case of police firing at Kotkapura in 2015”.

Mr Romana said it was condemnable that Sukhraj Singh, the son of Krishan Bhagwan Singh, who had been martyred at Behbal Kalan, had become a pawn of the AAP government. “He and the Morcha will be soon exposed by their own deeds”.

Explaining the entire issue, Mr Parambans Romana said challans had been presented in all three cases of sacrilege of 2015 including theft of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib from the Burj Jawahar Singh gurdwara, pasting of derogatory posters at Bargari village and subsequent discovery of torn pages from the holy book in the same village. “In all three cases no SAD leader or worker has been charged with any wrong doing”.

Asserting that the Kotkapura case, which was a case of police firing in which one person had been injured, was being politicized, Mr Romana said the “AAP government is following the erstwhile Congress government in this regard”. He said three years after the Kotkapura firing case of 2015, the Congress government has prevailed upon the injured to file an FIR and name former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

He said the AAP government had followed on this by filing a false and mischievous chargesheet and was now claiming that it had ensured justice in the case by charge-sheeting the Badal family. “The 7,000 page charge sheet has been prepared within a period of eight days at the rate of one thousand pages per day shortly after the Punjab Police had taken out an advertisement asking the public to give information if any on the Kotkapura firing case”.

Asserting that justice had different connotations for those targeting the SAD and the ‘sangat’, he said while the SAD haters were bent on implicating the SAD leadership in any case even remotely related to sacrilege, the ‘sangat’ wanted the guilty to be arrested and punished. “Unfortunately the AAP government is least interested in respecting the sentiments of the Sikh quom and only wants to play politics on this sensitive issue”.

Telling the AAP government not to throw Punjab into flames, the SAD general secretary said the AAP government was expected to maintain peace and communal harmony but instead was sowing discord in society. Mr Romana also asked the government to set its own house in order instead of trying to foment trouble in civil society.

“Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should use his energies in taking control of the law and order situation. We witnessed four gruesome murders only yesterday. We have witnessed a police station being attacked only a few days back but even in that case no FIR has been registered till now.

Gangsters are running crime syndicates from jails and gangsters outside jail are executing their counterparts in prison. The entire State is in a severe crisis. Instead of tackling these burning issues, the AAP government is bent on playing politics on sacrilege”, Mr Romana added.
