Superintendent of Central Jail Patiala, Manjit Singh Tiwana while releasing a press note said that today on 12.08.2022, Under trial Maninder Singh alias Gona alias Mani, son of Sukhdev Singh, resident of village Lubana Karmu, police station Bakshiwala, was confined at central jail Patiala in case Fir no. 47 dated 31.07.2022, police station Bakshiwala u/s- 399,402 IPC and Fir no. 122 Dated 30.06.2022 Police Station- City Sangrur, u/s- 379-B, 34 IPC.
Divulging the details Jail Superintendent said that at around 12.00 noon Police guard reached the jail to escort him for his court appearance. When the said prisoner was searched in his barrack, the prisoner was not found there.
Thereafter the CCTV cameras at the prison control room were checked and it was found that the prisoner scaled the wall of deordi at around 07.15 a.m from where it seems that the prisoner had absconded from the jail.
Manjit Singh Tiwana said that the concerned police station has been informed in this regard and a case is being registered by the police. Efforts are being made to re-arrest the accused. Furthermore every weak spot inside the jail would be identified and would be appropriately covered. Also investigation in this regard is ongoing, and appropriate action will be taken against any employee/officer found guilty, Jail Superintendent added.
