Thousands of people from all walks of life paid tributes to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at Antim Ardas and Shradhanjli Samagam held at Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara Hall in Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib complex here today.
Family stopped leaders from praising Dr. Manmohan Singh saying that his works already speak throughout the worlds as US, French, UK Presidents, Prime Ministers and leaders from different countries have already lauded his contribution towards the world particularly Indian economy.
Dr. Manmohan Singh’s elder daughter Dr. Upinder Kaur thanked people who have attended last rites. She also lauded recitation of kirtan by Bhai Harjinder Singh Srinagar Wale and said that their recitation of last shabad has reminded the family of Amrit Kaur mother and Gurmukh Singh father of Dr. Manmohan Singh. She said that family was proud that large number of people have attended last rites to pay tributes to former PM.
Addressing this gathering Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President S. Harmeet Singh Kalka and General Secretary S. Jagdip Singh Kahlon said that DSGMC has taken a number decision in the name of former PM. They disclosed that DSGMC has passed resolutions in which it has been decided to give scholarship in name of Dr. Manmohan Singh on Economics in all four colleges being run by the DSGMC.
They also said that which ever new Institute DSGMC will establish, will be established in name of Dr. Manmohan Singh. They also disclosed that photograph of Dr. Manmohan Singh will be posted in all the institutes being run by the DSGMC besides every year on December 26, a day when he left for heavenly abode, tributes will be paid to former PM at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in National capital.
In the programme Giani Ranjit Singh head granthi of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib performed ardaas.
On the occasion DSGMC President S. Harmeet Singh Kalka, General Secretary S. Jagdip Singh Kahlon, former President S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami honoured Gursharan Kaur wife of Dr. Manmohan Singh with robe of honour.
Others prominent who attended Ardaas samagam included office bearers and members of DSGMC, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Malikarjun Kharge, Iqbal Singh Lalpura Chairman National Minorities Commission, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring President Punjab Congress, former DSGMC President Parmnjit Singh Sarna besides others.
