Former Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema today said that thousands of people were suffering from Dengue to due failure of Channi Government in Punjab and during last 10 days thousands of new patients have emerged suffering from dengue and are under treatment in hospitals.

In a statement released here today, the Shiromani Akali Dal Senior Vice President Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that during last 10 days Punjab has witnessed increase of more than 90 percent in cases. He said that maximum cases have been reported from Mohali, Bathinda, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Pathankot where 6970 people have been found infected with dengue. He said that on October 12 total 5889 cases were reported in Punjab and on October 21, a total of 11129 Dengue cases were reported for which Punjab Government is directly responsible.

Dr Cheema further said that people of the state had earlier suffered during COVID-19 when thousands of people had lost their lives due to failure of Capt. Amarinder Singh led Government and now people were facing Dengue during this Channi government. He said that though officially government is denying figures but reality is that there were 22 suspected deaths with Dengue in state out of which 9 were from Mansa and 3 from Ludhiana. He said that this year Dengue cases has registered an increase compared to last three years.

Dr. Cheema also said that had the government taken steps on time to stop spread of disease, people could have been saved from Dengue. He said that governments of other states were spending crores of rupees on educating people on Dengue whereas Punjab Government was spending on misleading advertisements on providing relief to farmers who have suffered due to attack on pink ballworm whereas not a single farmer got relief money.

The SAD leader further said that cases of Dengue reported in Punjab were those cases which were already confirmed whereas thousands of cases were others who had skipped ELISA test and have taken medicines from RMP doctors. He said that total 29307 suspected cases have been reported in state out of which 11129 were confirmed cases.

He urged the CM to give preference to issue and order timely fogging and other measures to contain this disease to ensure saving lives.
