Punjab Education Minister Pargat Singh on Saturday said that it is high time to appreciate the efforts of teachers in boosting the educational system in Government Schools besides further bolster education environment in the state to provide better opportunities to coming generations.
Presiding over maiden meeting with Secretary Education and other senior officers of Education Department here at District Administrative Complex after paying glowing tributes to the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi ji, the Minister said that Education Department and all teachers would strive hard to shape better future of our youngsters so that they could achieve new heights of success in future.
“Teachers are the best persons who can not only shaping future of students but also inculcate basic values amongst them which creates a strong human development in the society. We will solicit support, cooperation and valuable solutions from experts of teaching profession and educationists to carry forward the existing positive energy in the department” he added.
Punjab has achieved the first position in the school education, which can be maintained, said the Minister adding that all the stakeholders would work as a team to keep this coveted position intact.
He also reviewed the works of department accomplished in the past besides encouraging all to work in full spirit and commitment to execute the next 100 days roadmap. The Minister said that the services intellectual personalities would also be incorporated for devising an action plan for mental and physical development of students.
Pargat Singh also handed over appreciation letters to the teachers for their commendable work in Smart School campaign. He also expressed gratitude towards all teaching fraternity for massive transformation in the system besides assuring that the government would accomplish the remaining works of smart schools in association with the social personalities and NRIs.
He also stressed that a team should also be created to take maximum help of physical education teachers so as to ensure physical development of students. He also promised that the grievances of school teachers would also be sorted out shortly through an online system as the necessary instructions had already been given to authorities concerned.
He also gave away appreciation letters to District Smart School Mentors and District Assistant Coordinators Smart School, who played a pivotal role to make the smart school campaign a great success. Secretary Education Krishan Kumar also presented a detailed report on the achievements and works of department in the past.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Education Minister also handed over appointment letters to 27 beneficiaries, who will join the department on compassionate grounds. These appointments included one science teacher, six clerk, 2 SLA, four chowkidar, two sweeper and 12 peon. DPI Secondary Education Sukhjit Pal Singh, DPI Elementary Harinder Kaur and others were also present during the meeting.
