The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Punjab co-incharge Raghav Chadha termed the stand of Bollywood actor and Lok Sabha MP from Gurdaspur Sunny Deol with Prime Minister Narendra Modi government as a betrayal, by stabbing the farmers in the back over centre’s black farm laws.
In a statement, Raghav Chadha on Tuesday said that the people of Punjab had high hopes and made Sunny Deol, a member of Lok Sabha by casting their votes, but Sunny Deol had betrayed the people in times of trouble. Chadha, who is on a visit to Punjab following campaign for the upcoming municipal bodies’ elections, had visited Gurdaspur on Tuesday.
He said that for the last several months, the farmers of Punjab had been peacefully agitating against the black laws of the Modi government. “Nearly 200 farmers have been martyred during the agitation in severe cold, facing several difficulties; but Sunny Deol, who became the MP with people votes, did not utter a single word for the farmers and if he did, he only hurled insults at the farmers and praised Modi,” added Chadha.
He said that the people of Punjab supported the family of Sunny Deol with utmost love, but now when the opportunity arose to stand with the people of Punjab, they played the role of traitors.
“The people of Gurdaspur have once again got betrayed by making an outsider win as Sunny Deol has so far only attended the Lok Sabha for three days,” he added.
Chadha said that Sunny Deol had betrayed the people of Punjab. He said when the people needed him, Deol kept Punjab aside and only focussed on his chair.
“People had voted for Sunny Deol, however he said that he cannot live in Punjab as he lives in Mumbai and his MP work would be handled by PA. Did the public vote for his PA,” he added. Taking further dig at Sunny Deol, Chadha said that Deol keeps busy in acting and he does not belong to Punjab anymore.
“He does not belong to Punjab anymore as he is from Mumbai. Also, search posters can be found in Gurdaspur as people are fed up and are saying that Sunny Deol disappeared after taking votes,” he added.
The AAP leader said that the entire Punjab was fed up with the Modi government, but Sunny Deol’s ‘Modi Bhakti’ was not ending. “The people of Punjab have boycotted the Deol family. They say that Sunny Deol has never come to his area and neither in the Parliament.
He remained largely absent from the Lok Sabha session and stayed busy with his son’s film release,” he said. Chadha said that Sunny Deol was the biggest cheater (Gaddar) of Punjab, and he used Punjab everywhere for his personal career but when Punjab needed him, he ditched the state.
Chadha said that only the Aam Aadmi Party could defeat the BJP as it did thrice in Delhi under the nose of Modi and Shah. He said that in Delhi, the people had formed the government three times by believing in the Aam Aadmi Party and now in Punjab also, the Aam Aadmi Party would form the government in the same manner to provide health, education and other facilities.
