Chandigarh, April 11, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today appealed to the ‘sangat’ to contribute to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) by earmarking ‘daswandh’ in their forthcoming wheat crop for ‘langar sewa’ for the poor and needy during the ongoing curfew due to the Caronavirus pandemic threat.
In a statement here, the SAD President said the SGPC had fed lakhs of poor and needy people including migrant labourers who were stranded in Punjab after the ongoing lockdown. He said this ‘sewa’ was still on and was likely to be intensified even further with the curfew being extended to May 1.
“In the light of this unprecedented development and the need to look after the under privileged in keeping with the philosophy of our Gurus, I appeal to all farmers to donate wheat to the SGPC so that it can continue to serve the cause of humanity”.
Mr Sukhbir Badal also thanked the thousands of volunteers who were helping the SGPC to run the ‘langar sewa’. He said such a large-scale humanitarian effort would not have been possible but for the selfless service extended by the volunteers who had been put themselves at risk to serve the suffering humanity. He also appealed to the ‘sangat’ and Akali workers to contribute to this ‘sewa’ in every way possible so that no one slept hungry in the State.
