Stricter punishment for attacks on health workers to strengthen fight against Coronavirus: Tarun Chugh

Chandigarh, April 23, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Law for stricter punishment for people who attack health workers was need of the hour and the decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra-Modi led government would strengthen India’s fight against Coronavirus.

Hailing the law, BJP national Secretary, Tarun Chugh,, Thursday said the whole nation has appreciated the services of Coronawarriors who were fighting nation’s battle against Coronavirus but sadly some people were attacking the frontline health workers who were risking their lives to save the lives of the people of the country.

Slamming a section of the politicians and the media for standing with the Jamaatis who were intentionally given shelter in Nizamuddin Markaz with an ulterior motive to spread the virus across the country, Chugh said that the figures regarding positive cases were self explanatory. He said in a country of 130-crore people 40% of the Corona positive cases are from the Jamaat.

“It is unfortunate that a series of attacks were made on doctors, health workers and even police officials who were doing their duty in this hour of crisis,” Chugh said adding that a stringent law required to protect Coronawarriors.

The BJP welcomes the ordinance bringing the amended law into force immediately, Chugh said. “If somebody attacks doctors and health workers, they would be booked and the investigation would be completed within 30 days. The guilty could be jailed for a period ranging from 3 months to 7 years. The convicts could also be fined up to Rs.5-lakh. This would boost the morale of the doctors and the health workers who would feel safe and secure under the new law.

Chugh thanked IMA for withdrawing their call of a symbolic protest in view of the decision of the government. PM Modi-led government would ensure that the doctors and the health workers are not attacked anywhere in the country. “The ordinance shows Modi govt.’s resolve to protect the dignity of the health workers,” he said.

Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for leading the nation to fight the deadly pandemic Chugh said, Home Minister Mr Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda deserve kudos for working 24×7 to contain the situation which could have exploded had strong decisions not taken. The BJP leader said that it was a matter of pride that Prime Minister Modi has become a role model for other countries too and the affected countries were following PM Modi to effectively tackle COVID 19.

Chugh blasted Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for weakening India’s fight against Coronavirus instead of cooperating with the union government. He slammed Trinamool government for not allowing Centre’s team into the state which had gone there to analyze the situation.
