While speaking in the Indian parliament, Dr Amar Singh, MP, Shri Fatehgarh Sahib highlighted the failure of FCI and central government to evacuate sufficient stocks that had created a storage crisis for food grains.
In his address in the parliament today, MP Dr Amar Singh said that 200 Lakh MT stocks are already lying in Punjab. “Another 110 Lakh MT will soon be coming. FCI is evacuating just 10 Lakh MT a month,” he said.
He appealed to the Union government to save Punjab from this storage crisis. “State being fined Rs 1200-1500 Crore annually for storage loss because central government is not evacuating sufficient stocks,” he said.
