Sri Akhand Path Sahib started at Akal Takht Sahib to commemorate June 1984 Ghallughara

For marking the annual Shaheedi Samagam (martyrdom congregation) on June 6 to pay tributes to the Sikhs, women and children, who got martyred during the army attack on Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib by the Congress Government of India, Sri Akand Panth Sahib was started at Sri Akal Takht Sahib today.

Ardas (prayer) was offered by head granthi Bhai Malkeet Singh of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and also recited the holy hukamnama for the Sangat.

Prominent personalities including Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh, SGPC executive committee (EC) member S. Harjap Singh, member Bhai Manjit Singh, S. Mangwinder Singh were present on the occasion of starting Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Speaking on this occasion, Advocate S. Harjinder Singh said that June 1984 was the highest point of brutal act of the then Central Government which shook not only the Sikhs but the people of the world. He said with the arrival of these days, the sentiments of the Sikh community become painful every year.

SGPC President appealed to all the Sikh jathebandis (organisations) and Sangat to mark Ghallughar Day (holocaust day) on June 6 with Qaumi (community’s/nation’s) unity.

Those present on this occasion included SGPC secretary S. Partap Singh, additional secretary S. Bijai Singh, assistant secretary media S. Kulwinder Singh, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib S. Sulakhan Singh, assistant secretary S. Gurmeet Singh Buttar, manager S. Harpreet Singh, S. Satnam Singh, superintendent S. Malkeet Singh, in-charge S. Shahbaz Singh, additional manager S. Iqbal Singh, S. Jaspal Singh and more.

Sangat continue to have darshan of injured holy saroop on third day

During June 1984 holocaust, the holy saroop (scripture) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib that were adorned at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib was hit by a bullet and the Sangat continued to have their darshan (glimpse) on the third consecutive day.

The injured holy saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib has been adorned for the Sangat to have their darshan (glimpse) by SGPC at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Gurbakhsh Singh from June 2 to 5.

Today on the third day, while adorning this holy saroop SGPC President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh, SGPC EC member S. Harjap Singh, member Bhai Manjit Singh, S. Mangwinder Singh, head granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurmukh Singh and prominent personalities were present.

After having the darshan of holy saroop, SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh said that the atrocities committed by the Central Government in 1984 could be felt by seeing this holy saroop.
