New Delhi, February 4, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa has urged Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah to grant citizenship to families who have come to India on tourist visa and want to settle down in India.

In a statement released here today, Mr. Sirsa said that he had personally received 4 families who have come to India on a pilgrimage visa. He said that apart from these four, 21 other families have crossed over to the country fearing their lives in Pakistan. He said that these families have minor daughters and they feared that when they will turn 13, anytime they will be forcefully abducted, converted to Islam and then married to Muslim men like Mehak Kumari and hundreds of others.

. He said that it is shocking that there is no report about several thousand girls who had been abduction in the past converted and then married about their wellbeing. It is unknown whether they are alive or dead and how many of them ?

He said that law of blasphemy and other laws are misused in Pakistan to arrest members of Hindu and Sikhs families, they are humiliated by police, are helpless in facing abuses of police and goonda elements from majority community and are forced to abandon their properties which are then usurped by abductors. He said that it is pitiable condition of these families in Pakistan whose voice is never heard by authorities because they are minority community in that country.

Mr. Sirsa said that it is a right time when the country has passed CAA to grant citizenship to migrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, to grant citizenship to these Hindu and Sikh families who are coming to the country presently. He said that government should further amend rules to day away with any time frame and families who want to secure their future in India should be allowed to come anytime.

Mr. Sirsa urged the people of India to come forward to welcome and help these families from Pakistan and suggested that they should also help these families financially as they have already lost their everything in Pakistan.

The DSGMC President said that he had worked in the past too for welfare of these families and will continue to do so in future too and will take every step needed to safeguard lives of these families. He said that these minority families are living in a atmosphere of fear and threat, they need protection from India and that can only be done by giving them citizenship.
