Sikh scholars, luminaries call on PM Modi, thank him for resolving Sikh issues

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi today met a delegation of eminent Sikh scholars and luminaries which called on him at his official residence. BJP Sikh leader Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa had arranged this meeting.

Addressing members of delegation, Prime Minister said that Sikhs have made a huge contribution in struggle for Independence of the country and even today Sikh soldiers are guarding borders of the nation.

He said that they are not only on front in security forces but their intellectuals are leading society in different fields and they have excelled in field of Science and Arts as well. He said that he was proud of the community members who have earned name and fame globally. He said that members of the community have made remarkable achievements in different fields.

Mr. Modi said that their government was committed to resolve issues being faced by the Sikhs. He said that it is most unfortunate that successive Congress led governments not only ignored their issues but infact they were made target of hate crimes. He said that 1984 Sikh genocide is only genocide of the world in which members of a particular community were targeted. He said that their government has ensured justice for Sikhs in 1984 cases and those protected by highly influential family are now languishing in jail for their sins.

On the occasion, BJP Sikh leader Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa thanked PM for lending ear to problems of the community and swiftly resolving them. He said that since last 70 years Sikhs were facing several problems which were always ignored by the successive Congress governments. He said that it is a shocking fact that those who sacrificed their lives for the country were ignored and those who bifurcated country their statues were installed throughout the country.

Members of the Sikh delegation also spoke on the occasion and thanked Prime Minister for taking steps for resolving Sikh issues.
