SGPC inaugurates 7th COVID Care Centre at Gurdwara Bhattha Sahib in Ropar

Under the services being provided by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), seventh Covid Care Centre was inaugurated at Gurdwara Sri Bhattha Sahib in Ropar (Rupnagar) on Sunday.

The care centre was jointly inaugurated by the SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal and senior SAD leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema.

This centre has been equipped with 25-bed and for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, the arrangement is made to provide oxygen with concentrators.

Indian Medical Association (IMA) would also provide full support for this centre set up by the SGPC at Ropar and the team of doctors and nurses will remain deputed here for 24 hours, said SGPC president.

After inauguration of the Centre at Gurdwara Sri Bhattha Sahib, Ropar, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the SGPC stands by humanity in every difficult hour as per the principles of the Gurus and it continues to render services even today in this harsh time of Covid-19 pandemic.

“SGPC has so far set up seven Covid care centres in different districts of Punjab from where hundreds of patients have recovered and gone home. The care centre at Ropar has been in collaboration with IMA and healthcare services will be provided to Level I and II Covid patients here. Patients who are serious will be taken by ambulance to nearby hospitals”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

SGPC president appealed to the people to visit this care centre of the SGPC if required where they would be provided better treatment as well as medicines and langar (food from community kitchen) facility.

On this occasion SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said, “Punjab government failed miserably in dealing with the situation in the state due to Covid-19 pandemic while the Sikh body SGPC has set an example by serving the Covid patients. Understanding the situation in Punjab, the medical wards set up by the SGPC at various places are becoming a support to the people.”

“It was the duty of the government to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of Punjab in these difficult times but unfortunately this was not done. Hundreds of lives could have been saved if the government had made proper arrangements in time”, said Sukhbir Singh Badal.

He thanked SGPC president, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema and the representatives of IMA for opening a care centre for the people of Ropar.

On this occasion SGPC members Ajmer Singh Khera and Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Bhai Amarjit Singh Chawla, Charanjit Singh Kalewal, Paramjit Singh Lakhewal, Jarnail Singh Dogranwala, Jarnail Singh Kartarpur, Surinder Singh Gogi district president Ropar, SGPC additional secretary Sukhminder Singh, OSDs to SGPC president Dr Amrik Singh and Dr Sukhbir Singh, Inderpal Singh Chadha, Paramjit Singh Makkar, Harmohan Singh, manager of Gurdwara Sri Bhattha Sahib Amarjit Singh Jindwarhi, Natha Singh Manager and others were present.
