SAD urges EC to act against Muktsar police for facilitating protest outside residence of Sukhbir Badal

Chandigarh, May 8, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today requested the chief election commissioner to direct the Punjab government to take strict action against the Muktsar district police for abetting the gherao of the residence of former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal as well as SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal and union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

Submitting a complaint in this regard, SAD senior Vice President Dr Daljit Singh Cheema asked the Election Commission to get the entire incident probed. “It seems the entire act has the blessings of the Congress party and the government which alone can explain how the district police facilitated the gherao instead of taking prompt action against the “protestors” who are known stooges of the Congress party”.

Dr Cheema said the State sponsored act was born out of the desperation of the chief minister following the realisation that he was being wiped out from his home constituency of Patiala.

Giving further details, Dr Cheema said the stage managed act led by Congress stooge Baljit Singh Daduwal at 3 pm today was a very serious development which could have had grave consequences including threat to peace as well as communal harmony.

He said the probe should examine Daduwal’s role in the conspiracy and recommend due action against him. He said it should also be probed as to why Daduwal was allowed to reach the gate of the residence of the SAD president who is also a Z plus protectee.

Dr Cheema said the role of Muktsar SSP Manjit Singh Dhesi should also be probed as he was the real brother of the CM’s OSD Sonu Dhesi and was known to have facilitated booth rigging in the Zila Parishad and Panchayat elections.

The representation to the Election Commission also urged it to take necessary action to ensure this act was not repeated in future.
