SAD demands dismissal of Sukhjinder Randhawa to put stop to gangster operations from inside Jails

Chandigarh, December 4, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today demanded the immediate dismissal of Jails minister Sukhjinder Randhawa to put a stop to gangster operations from inside jail premises besides ensuring national security was not compromised by allowing a free run to criminals in jail.

In a statement here, former minister Maheshinder Singh Grewal said “the gangster-Minister nexus the SAD had been alluding to all along was there before everyone now with an investigation into use of mobile phones in Sangrur district jail by State police revealing that criminals were being given all services required by them at a price.

Each and every thing we stated while making disclosures about the facilities extended to gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria is coming true. It has been revealed that inmates were not only being provided mobile phones but also internet facility besides other comforts and special food”.

Stating that the Punjab government could not escape its responsibility by taking action against a few officials in the case, the SAD leader said the probe into the live video scandal in Sangrur jail had revealed that a huge amount of money was being collected to provide telephony and other facilities to the inmates.

“It is obvious this money is being delivered to the very top. That is why even dreaded gangsters were allowed use of telephones and wi fi facilities to expand their illegal operations from inside the jail premises.

The buck stops at the Jails minister. Chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh should take action against Mr Sukhjinder Randhawa by dismissing him forthwith to cleanse the jails system as well as put a stop to gangster culture which has received a major boost during his tenure”.

Mr Grewal said allowing such type of activities, especially easy access to telephones and internet facilities, was detrimental to national security. “There are a number of terrorists as well as anti-social elements in jail who can be used by anti-India forces for activities aimed at destabilizing India.

We demand that besides ordering a complete clean up of all jails in Punjab, the chief minister should also hand over the case to the CBI. This alone can unravel and expose the entire operation of the gangsters, which is inter-State in nature and has linkages even in Australia and New Zealand, as had been proved already in the case of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria”.

The Akali leader said any further laxity in taking action in the matter and referring the probe into the entire case to the CBI would indicate that the Congress party is hand in glove with the gangsters and is extending all needed facilities to them in jail so that they can be used against their political opponents.
