Punjabi singer Rami Randhawa has been booked by Punjab Police for allegedly displaying weapons on social media, following the circulation of a video that has gone viral online.
According to the police, a case has been registered against Randhawa under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act at Ajnala Police Station, which falls under his residential jurisdiction.
The case was lodged on the complaint of Assistant Sub-Inspector Kawaljit Singh, who stated that the objectionable video was brought to his attention by an individual. Upon verification, the officer reportedly found the video posted on Randhawa’s Facebook account.
A senior police official said that investigations are underway to ascertain whether the weapons shown in the video were legally licensed or not.
As of now, Rami Randhawa has not issued any public statement or response following the registration of the case.
