Punjab Vigilance registers bribery case against 2 Naib Tehsildars, one arrested

Punjab Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption, booked two Naib Tehsildars (NT) in a corruption case and nabbed one NT red handed while accepting bribe.

Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Harnek Singh Naib Tehsildar Rajpura, Patiala district have been nabbed red handed on the complaint of Pargat Singh of Tarntaran district.

He added that the complainant has approached the Bureau and informed that his plea pertaining to division of his land was pending with NT Banur Rupinder Kumar who have asked him to approach NT Rajpura. The spokesperson further informed that NT Rajpura has demanded bribe of Rs ten lakh for helping the complainant in two revenue cases pending with NT Banur and ADC SAS Nagar in his favour.

After verifying the information a Bureau team laid a trap and the accused NT Harnek Singh was caught red handed while taking bribe of Rs 2 lakh in cash and a cheque bearing Rs 8 lakh amount in the presence of two official witnesses. In this case NT Banur has also been booked.

He said a case under section 7, 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused NTs at Vigilance Bureau, Police Station, SAS Nagar and further investigation was under progress.
