A delegation of terrorism-affected families from Punjab called on the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, at Lok Bhavan Punjaband submitted a memorandum highlighting their long-pending demands and concerns.
The delegation raised key issues, including release of a pending financial package and compensation for families of martyred police personnel and government employees, along with extension of special family pension benefits. They also sought enhancement of pension for widows and parents of civilian victims.
The delegation further demanded implementation of earlier policy decisions, extension of deadlines for plot allotment and regularization, and provision of concessional or free plots to terrorism-affected families, particularly Red and White Card holders.
Highlighting employment concerns, they requested relaxation in eligibility conditions to provide jobs to one family member of victims and sought reservation in government jobs for terrorism-affected families. They also demanded pension support for elderly members of displaced families who migrated during terrorism and later returned to Punjab.
Listening patiently to the concerns, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria assured the delegation that their issues would be considered sympathetically. He stated that he would take up the matter with the concerned officers and departments and ensure that the demands are examined in a positive and constructive manner.
The Governor reiterated the government’s commitment towards the welfare, rehabilitation, and support of families affected by terrorism.
