Punjab Govt committed to zero-tolerance policy against criminals – Mohinder Bhagat

Punjab Horticulture and Defence Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Wednesday reiterated the Punjab Government’s zero-tolerance policy against crime, asserting that elements attempting to disturb peace and public safety will be dealt with firmly.

The Minister visited Babbar Jewellers at Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar, where a robbery was carried out by masked assailants a few days ago. Interacting with the shop owners and family members, he expressed solidarity with the victims and assured them that justice would be ensured at the earliest.

Mr. Bhagat said that special teams of the Punjab Police have been pressed into action and are working round the clock to trace and apprehend the accused. He emphasized that those involved in the crime would not escape the law and would face stringent action. The Minister also assured that the looted jewellery will be recovered, which will be returned to the rightful owners after the arrest of the culprits.

Commending the Punjab Police, Mr. Bhagat said the force has been acting decisively against criminals and gangsters to maintain a safe and secure environment across the state. He added that the Police teams had arrested the robbers within 48 hours in a similar incident that took place in Bahrgo Camp a few months back. Now, the senior police officials were also asked to adopt similar strestegy to solve this case, he added.

Reaffirming the state government’s resolve, the Minister said that ensuring the safety of citizens and protecting their livelihoods remains paramount, and any attempt to undermine law and order will be met with strict and immediate action.
