Dr Amarjit Tanda, Chairman, NRI World Organization (NRIWO) yesterday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to put all other engagements on hold and personal address and resolve the genuine demands of the agitating farmers of the country as a top national priority sitting in a freezing environment.
Speaking to the media at Rosehill, Sydney’ Australia, Dr Tanda announced Worldwide full support to the Punjab Kisan movement protesting against Farm Bills and Electricity Amendment.
The agitators’ demands on the three anti-farmer Acts are perfectly legitimate, secular, and constitutional. Replacing the powerful working mandi system with the free market model program has failed in the US and the European countries miserably, Dr Tanda described.
The Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s attitude towards farmers heavily blocking the road, use of teargas shells, and water cannons was undesirable. His statement was highly provocative, dangerous, and divisive dubbing the farmers as “Khalistanis”, Dr. Tanda cautioned.
“The Prime Minister and his colleagues have repeatedly maintained that the assured marketing of farmers’ produce at minimum support price will be continued under all circumstances. That being so, there should be no objection to nor any problem in giving a legal shape to the government’s commitments through necessary legislation” cannot be trusted as not being given in writing, Dr. Tanda doubted.
He applauded the table talk strategies however it has remained unsuccessful every time. It is suggested again that farmers should be listened to carefully, and the laws as not desired to be scrapped immediately. He said that we have stepped out to support our farmers protesting at Delhi and for the united cause of Punjab to secure justice for the farmers and get the “black laws” against them repealed..
