The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and MP Bhagwant Mann has appealed to the people of Punjab, especially the farmers’ associations to be vigilant over the misleading statements being made by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and SAD (Badal) President Sukhbir Singh Badal on the draconian farm laws being pushed by the Union Government.
In a statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh here on Friday, Bhagwant Mann said “Chief Minister Amarinder Singh is trying to befool people of the state, especially the farmers, offering to lead the ongoing big fight against the Modi government’s black laws?.
While the people of Punjab had voted, supported and elected him to lead the agrarian state in 2017 with overwhelming majority, pinning high hopes and aspirations on him. But, during his four and a half years tenure in power he has failed to live up to the expectations of any section of the society”.
The AAP president said that he (Amarinder Singh) did not even spare guru sahibans, adding that he had failed to fulfil the promises made to the people of Punjab under the divine presence of Sri Gutka Sahib.
Similarly, when during the all-party meeting on June 24 this year, all the political parties, barring the Badals, he had agreed on the floor of the House to lead them to Delhi to register their protest against the anti-farmer legislation, saying that he backtracked on the issue, leaving the members of the all political parties jiggered?
The Sangrur MP further said that Amarinder Singh was playing a dual game to deceive the people of Punjab, especially the farmers.
He alleged his government’s tacit consent to the anti-farmer decisions being pushed by the union government, including the black laws being enacted, saying that the formation of the Montek Singh Ahluwalia Committee had exposed the double speak of the Amarinder government. Mann Amarinder Singh was capable enough to lead the people of Punjab as he had lost faith in the people.
Mounting a veiled attack on the Badals, Bhagwant Mann said, “Like the Raja Amarinder Singh, Sukhbir Badal too was indulging in making statements about the contentious Bills, saying the people of Punjab do not understand far reaching benefits of the Bills, which were in the larger interest of the farmers.
Who’s gonna believe in the statement made by Sukhbir Badal at Damdama Sahib’s Diwan Hall? The ground reality is that the Badal family is a mere pawn in the hands of Modi.
