PAU Student Riya Bansal Honoured with Young Microbiologist Award

Ms Riya Bansal, a student of the Department of Microbiology, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has brought laurels to the University by bagging “Young Microbiologist Award” for her outstanding contribution to the field of microbiology.

She was presented the award during the 10th International Conference on “Recent Advances in Agriculture, Engineering, Applied and Life Sciences for Environmental Sustainability (RAAEALSES-2024),” organized by the School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and the Agro-Environmental Development Society (ADES), Majhra Ghat, Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, at the Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, from October 23-25.

Ms Bansal also holds a Prime Minister Fellowship from DST-SERB, Government of India, in collaboration with FICCI, for her doctoral research focused on the “Assessment of liquid formulation of phosphate-solubilizing rhizobacteria on phosphorus acquisition and yield of potato” and being carried out under the supervision of Dr Pratibha Vyas, Assistant Professor (Microbiology), Department of Microbiology, PAU. She was also awarded the “National Biotech Youth Award 2023” during an MBSI-sponsored two-day national-level student conference.

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; Dr AS Dhatt, Director of Research; Dr Manav Indra Singh Gill, Dean of Postgraduate Studies; Dr Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities; and Dr Urmila Gupta, Head, Department of Microbiology, congratulated Ms Bansal for her accomplishment and highlighted the university’s consistent recognition at both national and international levels for its innovative research.
