In a solemn and spirited tribute to the legendary trio of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru, the Directorate of Students’ Welfare, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana organized a commemorative function. The event served as a powerful reminder of the supreme sacrifices made by these national icons during India’s struggle for independence.
Dr Nirmal Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, while presiding over the function, delivered an evocative address on the indomitable spirit of the martyrs.
He emphasized that the freedom we enjoy today is built upon the foundation of their selfless bravery. Dr Jaura further gave a clarion call to the students to channel their energy into the betterment of the university and the nation. He also exhorted them to work hard for academic excellence, calling it the truest way to honor the legacy of our heroes.
Adding to the tributes, Dr Kamaljeet Singh Suri, Joint Director Students’ Welfare, reflected deeply on the lives and ideologies of the martyrs. He shared poignant anecdotes from their journey, urging the youth to adopt the same sense of discipline and patriotism in their daily lives.
Dr Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director Culture, provided a heartfelt cultural perspective on the occasion. She spoke at length about how the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh and his comrades has been immortalized through literature and art, continuing to serve as a beacon of hope for every generation.
She encouraged the students to not only remember the dates of their sacrifice but to deeply internalize the cultural and ethical values they stood for – equality, justice, and the courage to stand against oppression.
Sh Satvir Singh, Registering Officer and a large gathering of students also paid floral tributes. The atmosphere remained charged with patriotic fervor as university students paid their respects through silence and reflections. The event concluded with a collective pledge by the students to uphold the integrity of the country and contribute meaningfully to its progress.
