World Stroke Day: Nithin Kamath shares importance of golden 4.5 hours

Every minute counts during a stroke, said Nithin Kamath, Co-founder and CEO of Zerodha on Wednesday, while stressing the need to seek immediate medical help within the golden 4.5 hours after suffering the brain condition.

World Stroke Day is observed every year on October 29 to raise awareness about strokes, which occur when blood flow to the brain is interrupted. During the attack, brain cells die every second; thus, early medications are key to boosting survival.

Taking to social media platform X, Kamath, who survived a stroke last year, shared how strokes can be better managed if medical help is sought within 4.5 hours — known as the Golden Hour. If strokes are not treated immediately within the window, it can lead to permanent brain damage and disability.

He shared that many people often shrug it off, thinking that nothing will happen to them as they are healthy.

“If there’s one thing I wish I had done differently when I was hit by a stroke last January, it would be to go to the hospital immediately, within the Golden Hour (under 4.5 hours), instead of thinking I could just sleep it off,” Kamath shared in a post on social media platform X.

“This ‘nothing will happen to me’ attitude is common, especially among those under 50,” he added, noting that cases of stroke are rising significantly among people under the age of 50.

“The truth is, strokes are rising sharply, up to nearly 30 per cent of all strokes in the last few years, among 30 to 50-year-olds,” Kamath said.

“When it comes to strokes, time is brain; every minute counts,” he added.

Nearly 80 per cent of strokes can be prevented through simple but consistent measures: controlling blood pressure and diabetes, avoiding tobacco and alcohol, eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and managing cholesterol.

According to Dr. Deep Das, a Kolkata-based neurologist, recognising stroke symptoms is the first step, which can be easily remembered through the acronym ‘BE FAST’.

“B stands for Balance, E for Eye or vision, F for Face, notice if the face becomes distorted, A for Arm — check for weakness or loss of grip, S for Speech — look for slurred or unclear speech, and T for Time — act immediately and reach a hospital without delay,” Das said.(Agency)

PIB Fact Check flags AI-manipulated video of President Murmu with false claims about PM Modi, Rafale

PIB Fact Check on Wednesday flagged a digitally-altered video of President Droupadi Murmu that is being circulated by Pakistani propaganda accounts with false claims alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is using her as a prop to promote Rafale fighter jets.

In a post on social media platform X, PIB Fact Check clarified: “Pakistani propaganda accounts are circulating a digitally altered video of President Droupadi Murmu with false claims that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is using her as a prop to elevate Rafale PR.”

The manipulated video features an artificial voice mimicking President Murmu, falsely claiming that she was being “blackmailed” by the PM Modi government to participate in Rafale-related promotions.

The fake clip includes statements such as: “I want to request the citizens of our country that Modi Ji’s Hindutva government blackmailed me and ordered me to sit in Rafale… If anything happens to me, Modi Ji and his Hindutva politics will be responsible.”

PIB Fact Check categorically dismissed these claims, asserting that “The President of India has NOT made any such statement.”

It further warned that the video is AI-generated and shared with the intent to mislead the public.

The fact-checking unit also shared a link to the authentic, unedited video and urged users to report such misinformation immediately via official channels through WhatsApp at +91 8799711259 or email at factcheck@pib.gov.in.

This is not the first instance of AI-generated misinformation flagged by the PIB. On Monday, it also warned users about another AI-manipulated video featuring Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, which falsely promoted an “investment programme” promising returns of Rs 60,000 in 24 hours and Rs 10 lakh a month.

“A video on Facebook falsely shows Union Finance Minister @nsitharaman promoting an investment program that promises easy daily income. The Finance Minister or the Government of India has NOT launched or endorsed any such scheme,” PIB Fact Check clarified in an official post.

The agency urged citizens to remain cautious of such “get-rich-quick traps”, advising them to verify any claims before taking financial decisions.

“Don’t fall for such get-rich-quick traps! Stay alert. Stay informed. Verify before you share,” PIB warned.

PIB also advised users to check for signs of video manipulation — such as distorted lip movements, mismatched voice sync, inconsistent backgrounds, or fake logos — and to verify links, ensuring that official government websites always end with “.gov.in.”(Agency)

Amongst all the photos and videos, one video that caught everyone’s attention was of her daughter Malti Marie in her fun and cute element. In the video Priyanka Chopra and Malti Marie are seen watching Nick Jonas perform live at the concert. What caught more attention is the way little Malti desperately tries to climb the stairs leading to the stage, just to run to her father, who was performing live at a houseful location.

Priyanka is seen gently holding her frock from behind to keep her away from running straight onto the stage during the live concert. For the uninitiated, the actress and her little girl have Nick Jonas on his music tour. Priyanka shared the carousel full of the tour’s fun moments featuring herself, her daughter and other family members and friends.

PeeCee captioned it as, “On tour with Daddy is always a good time with an evil eye and smiley emoticon.” In the first set of images, Priyanka can be seen backstage flashing a bright smile while sporting a casual white jacket with Nick’s name embroidered on it. Later, the actor was seen captured in a romantic moment with Nick, where the couple posed for a romantic mirror selfie with each other.

Helicopter skids while landing in Nepal’s Mt. Lobuche

A helicopter that had flown to pick up trekkers from the base camp of Mt. Lobuche, a neighbouring peak of Mt. Everest, met with an accident early Wednesday morning, a senior police official said.

“The helicopter belonging to Altitude Air met with an accident at 7.50 a.m. when it skidded while landing at a helipad in Lobuche,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Manojit Kunwar, chief of Solukhumbu District Police.

“The only occupant of the helicopter, the pilot, was rescued and brought to Lukla Airport, near the mountain,” he said.

According to him, the helicopter sustained partial damage to its tail and has been left at the accident site.

Lobuche, which has two peaks – Lobuche East (6,119 meters) and Lobuche West (6,145 metres) – attracts a large number of trekkers and mountaineers every year.

The mountain serves as an acclimatisation peak for climbers aiming to summit higher mountains, including Mt. Everest (8,848.86 meters), the world’s tallest peak.

October is a peak tourist season in Nepal, and many trekkers reach Lobuche via the Everest trekking route during this period.

As of Tuesday evening, there were 210 trekkers at the Lobuche base camp, according to DSP Kunwar.

For the past few days, Nepali authorities have been warning trekkers to exercise extreme caution due to adverse weather conditions caused by Cyclone Mountha, which developed over the Bay of Bengal.

Nepal’s high, hilly and mountainous regions have been experiencing snowfall, posing risks to residents and trekkers. However, the weather was clear in the Everest region on Wednesday when the accident occurred, Kunwar added.

He further said that authorities have advised trekkers to remain cautious while venturing outside their hotels in the mountainous areas of the Everest region.

Meanwhile, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology on Tuesday said that the country could experience snowfall and rainfall in the central and eastern regions from October 30 to November 1.

Several government agencies have also urged the public to exercise caution while travelling in high, hilly and mountainous regions.

In a statement, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) urged all mountaineering and trekking teams, as well as domestic and international tourists, to exercise utmost caution over the next few days due to adverse weather conditions.(Agency)

Grokipedia will exceed Wikipedia by several orders of magnitude in breadth, depth and accuracy: Elon Musk

Elon Musk on Wednesday took a dig at Wikipedia, claiming that his new platform Grokipedia will surpass the popular online encyclopedia “by several orders of magnitude in breadth, depth and accuracy.”

Musk made the statement while responding to a user on his social media platform X.

Developed by xAI, Musk’s artificial intelligence company and the creator of the chatbot Grok, Grokipedia is an AI-powered encyclopedia that aims to challenge what Musk calls a “woke” and biased Wikipedia.

He described Grokipedia as a “massive improvement over Wikipedia” and said it aligns with xAI’s broader mission to help humanity better understand the universe.

The idea for Grokipedia emerged last month after Musk’s friend David Sacks, who is also known as US President Donald Trump’s AI and crypto advisor, suggested that Musk build a Wikipedia alternative.

Musk agreed, saying that an AI-generated encyclopedia would be “super important for civilisation” because it would eliminate human bias and political leanings in information sharing.

When users search for a topic on Grokipedia, the site displays a list of related articles that have been “fact-checked by Grok” — xAI’s conversational AI model — along with timestamps showing when the information was last updated.

Unlike Wikipedia, visitors cannot directly edit any entries. Instead, they can suggest corrections or flag inaccuracies using a feedback form.

Interestingly, some content on Grokipedia currently includes a disclaimer stating that it has been adapted from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 License.

This indicates that the platform is still partly sourcing its data from Wikipedia. However, Musk has said he plans to end this dependence by the end of the year.

At present, Grokipedia reportedly hosts 8,85,279 articles, and that number is expected to rise rapidly in the coming days.

Musk has also confirmed that the underlying AI is open source, allowing anyone to use or study it freely.

Currently, Grokipedia is available only through a web browser, with no word yet on whether xAI will release a mobile app for Android or iOS.(Agency)

Indian envoy meets US Senator, appreciates support for Indo-US counter-terrorism efforts

India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, met US Senator Jacky Rosen, lauding her consistent support for enhancing India-US counter-terrorism cooperation and for addressing challenges to regional peace and security, including cross-border terrorism.

He also briefed the Senator on the ongoing India-US trade engagement and the growing bilateral hydrocarbons partnership.

“Had an engaging conversation with Senator Jacky Rosen, Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Near East, Central, South Asia and Counter-terrorism Sub-committee. Briefed her on our current trade engagement and increasing bilateral trade in hydrocarbons. We also exchanged perspectives on societal applications of developments in Artificial Intelligence and scope of cooperation between India and the US in this domain,” Kwatra posted on X on Wednesday.

“Appreciate her steadfast support for strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation between our countries in dealing with challenges confronting regional peace and security, including cross-border terrorism in the region,” the post added.

Kwatra also interacted with Ambassador Stuart E. Jones, President of the Middle East Institute, sharing perspectives on recent geopolitical developments in the West Asia region.

Earlier on Sunday, the Indian Ambassador held a productive meeting with US Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Ranking Member, Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Both sides discussed efforts to arrive at a mutually-beneficial trade arrangement, India’s energy security and increasing oil and gas trade with the US, as well as shared geopolitical challenges in the region.

Kwatra also reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine through constructive dialogue and diplomacy.

Last week, the Indian Ambassador also met US Senator Bill Hagerty as both discussed various facets of bilateral partnership, including continuing ongoing talks on mutually beneficial trade deals, increasing bilateral hydrocarbons trade and working together to address shared challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.

“It was an honour to welcome and host Senator Hagerty and Madam Hagerty at our residence. Deeply appreciate and value Senator’s strong support to the India-U.S ties. BB 19: Abhishek Bajaj age-shames Kunickaa Sadanand, asks her to leave the house

In the recent episode of Bigg Boss Season 19, contestants Abhishek Bajaj and Kunickaa Sadanand were seen getting into a heated argument following this week’s nomination announcements.

Kunickaa, who refused to perform household duties set by Captain Mridul Tiwari, felt his decision was unfair. She was upset with Mridul because he chose to save Abhishek Bajaj and Ashnoor Kaur, despite the fact that they had been breaking Bigg Boss house rules – a decision that backfired on Kunickaa and the rest of the house, getting them to face nominations instead.

During the argument, Abhishek intervened and crossed the line as he age-shamed Kunickaa. Abhishek’s close friends and co-contestants Gaurav Khanna and Pranit More tried to put sense into him and even asked him to stop crossing the line, but Abhishek refused to listen. He argued back with Pranit, who was trying to help him understand his mistake. Kunickaa had earlier supported Ashnoor Kaur and Abhishek in multiple situations.

But after learning that Abhishek had been backbiting about her, she felt hurt and decided to withdraw her support for both Abhishek and Ashnoor. For the uninitiated, in a recent episode of Bigg Boss season 19, Ashnoor Kaur and Abhishek Bajaj were reprimanded by Bigg Boss for violating one of the most crucial house rules, which was that of wearing the microphones all the time.

The duo, who were seen inside the swimming pool without their mics, were seen whispering to each other. It looked as if they were trying to ensure that the conversation remained hidden from the audience.

Despite repeated warnings from Bigg Boss himself to stop whispering, they continued and were even seen teasing Bigg Boss by saying that they had already finished talking and nothing could be done about it now.

Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana, whose first big Diwali release ‘Thamma’ has entered the Rs 100 crore club, is ecstatic and said that commercial success is huge validation for an actor.

Ayushmann said: “Commercial success is (a) huge validation for an actor. To have tasted success with my brand of cinema feels incredibly special because I truly love fresh and unique content.”

The film marks his fifth touching the Rs 100 crore benchmark. Thamma now stands at Rs 103.50 crore (India net box office,) while his other Rs 100 crore hits are Dream Girl (Rs 142.26 crore), Dream Girl 2 ( Rs 104.90 crore), Badhaai Ho (Rs 137.61 crore) and Bala (Rs 116.81 crore).

He added: “As an audience, I relate to this kind of content the most. So, to see people enjoy, endorse and recommend such cinema, is truly an incredible experience for an entertainer like me. I’m thrilled that so many of my films have become successful franchises.”

“Thamma” also stars Nawazuddin Siddqui and Rashmika Mandanna, and is set in a fictional world. The film also sees a crossover with Varun Dhawan’s “Bhediya”. The film is part of the larger Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, and is connected to the Stree films, Bhediya, and Munjya.

“Thamma”, a film based on vampires, follows a journalist played by Ayushmann, who gets caught up in the power struggle of vampires Rashmika and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Looking forward, Ayushmann will be seen alongside Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi and Rakul Preet Singh’s upcoming film ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ directed by Mudassar Aziz, which is locked for a Holi release and will hit the big screens on March 4, 2026.

The release date was announced by the production banner T-Series Films on Instagram on October 18.

Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia gears up for her OTT debut with mystery series

Actress Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, who made her big screen debut with Shaunki Sardar, starring Guru Randhawa, is now gearing up to explore the OTT space with a Hindi web series.

A source close to the development told IANS: “Nimrit has been quite selective about her next move after her Punjabi debut, and she was keen on doing something fresh in the digital space. The project she is currently shooting for is a strong, performance-oriented web series that will allow her to display her versatility.”

According to industry sources, the actress has already begun shooting for the project last month in Mumbai, which is currently underway. While details about the series and her role are being kept under wraps, it is said to be a character-driven drama that will showcase a new side of Nimrit as a performer. The show is a real life drama with an element of mystery in its genre.

The source added: “The makers are maintaining secrecy around the concept for now, but this one is expected to mark her impressive entry into the OTT world.”

Talking about ‘Shaunki Sardar” starring Nimrit and Guru Randhawa, the film also stars Babbu Maan and Guggu Gill.

Directed by Dheeraj Kedarnath Rattan, ‘Shaunki Sardar’ is produced by Ishaan Kapoor, Shah Jandiali, and Dharminder Bataouli. The film arrived in cinemas on May 16, 2025.

The film followed the story of three men, who are bound by passion for fine dressing, adventure, and an unshakable moral code. Shamsher becomes a dreaded encounter specialist, while Karan, known for his fiery temper, never backs down from a fight. When Jagir returns from jail, he finds his proteges have grown into his equals, and as they navigate their entangled past.

Nimrit was recently seen in a music video “Bepanaah” alongside actor Tiger Shroff earlier this year.

Television show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi season 2 is currently ruling the roost on Indian television. The show stars television superstar Smriti Irani in the role of Tulsi.

Recently, Sakshi Tanwar played a cameo in the show, as Parvati, in a special integration episode of another iconic show, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, that was a rage back in the early 2000s, alongside Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
