No deaths in Recruitment Rally Wall Mishap – Jalandhar DC warns rumor mongers

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today described the videos viral on social media regarding death of aspirant during the recruitment rally for Indian Air Force (IAF) as irrational and baseless.

In a statement issued here, the Deputy Commissioner said that the unfortunate incident has occurred today morning when the wall around PAP ground had collapsed. He said that the wall had collapsed towards inside direction of the PAP ground adding that youth were on the outer side where no debris has fallen on them, as a result there were minor injuries only. Mr. Sharma categorically said that there was no loss of life as was being misled on social media.

The Deputy Commissioner said that due to wall collapse 23 youth who had come for participating in the rally sustained minor injuries and they were immediately rushed to the local Hospital for treatment. He said that after initial treatment 14 injured youth with minor injuries were discharged.

Mr. Sharma said that one youth was undergoing treatment at a local private hospital whereas remaining eight were under treatment at local Civil Hospital adding that the condition of all the youth was stable and out of danger.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed the people to not get panicky with the canards being spread through social media. He asked the people to not get swayed by the rumors, which were far away from the truth. Mr. Sharma also warned the rumor mongers that any sort of attempt to mislead the people and create tension in the society would be dealt with a heavy hand.
