After a massive rally on Friday by the employees of National Health Mission Punjab at Amritsar, the hometown of Deputy Chief Minister OP Soni, the Minister called on the members of the core committee for pre-decided meeting at 11.00 AM today.
The meeting was headed by NHM core committee members Dr. Inderjit Singh Rana and Gurpreet Singh Bhullar with Jaswinder Kaur, Arun Dutt, Maninder Singh and others at Deputy CM’s residence. Apart from the Deputy Chief Minister his other staff was also present in the meeting.
The members presiding over the meeting proposed to the Deputy Chief Minister that the demands of the employees of National Health Mission Punjab could be addressed and for this they suggested some measures. The NHM association representatives said that the bill recently drafted by the Punjab government to regularize the employees could be implemented on the employees of National Health Mission.
Apart from this, if the government so desires, the employees of National Health Mission can be paid the same salary as permanent employees on the lines of Haryana government or these employees can be made permanent by creating new posts under the society.
The committee members also convinced the Deputy Chief Minister that this would not impose any major financial burden on the government. After listening to the core committee members, the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister / Health Minister assured the members of the association that he himself would take up the issue in the Cabinet meeting to be held on December 14 on the behalf of all the staff of National Health Mission.
The Deputy Chief Minister has scheduled a special meeting with the members of the core committee of National Health Mission on December 14 at 3:00 pm in Chandigarh before the Cabinet meeting on the subject. The Minister assured that he would address the demands of the employees by completing the entire process in next 3 days and appealed to the employees to provide better health services in the state.
