NCC Day celebrated with fervour at MRS-PTU

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Day was celebrated in Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Bathinda campus with great fervour and gaiety. Cadets of 20 Punjab Batallion NCC unit and 2 Punjab Remount and Veterinary Squadron performed ceremonial drill in the parade ground of the university.

Col Jagbir Rana, Commanding Officer of 2 R & V Squadron NCC, Ghudda presided over the function. While addressing the gathering, Col Rana motivated the cadets to join the armed forces. He stressed on the importance of discipline and positive attitude in the life of a student which can make achieve their goals of their lives. He appreciated the cadets for their remarkable performance in all the activities performed on this occasion.

A horse show was also organized by the Cadets of 2 Pb R & V Sqadron which kept the audience spell bound. All were astonished on the skilful handling of the horses by these NCC Cadets. The Cadets were conferred the ranks on the basis of their length of service in the NCC.

Cadet Yashdeep Maurya was awarded with the rank of Junior Under Officer and Cadet Prachika with Sargent. Cadet Mandeep Singh, Cadet Lovedeep Singh and Cadet Surjit Kaur were given the rank of Corporal. Cadet Sushil, Cadet Nikhil, Cadet Sahildeep, Cadet Gurlaj, Cadet Sumandeep and Cadet Simrandeep were the Selections for the rank of Lance Corporal.

The Cadets and officers from other schools and colleges also participated in this Programme. Specifically, first officer Parveen Puri from SSD Boys School participated in the celebrations along with their as many as 25 junior cadets. Expressing their satisfaction, the cadets from these schools told that they have enjoyed the celebration and got imbued with the spirit of patriotism.

The aim of these activities was to promote the motto of NCC “Unity and Discipline”. Patriotic Songs, Nukkad Naatak directed by famous Punjabi Naatakkaar Sh. Kirti Kirpaal on Swachhta Mission, Self-composed poems and speeches were part of this programme.

MRS-PTU, Vice Chancellor Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu in his message communicated that students must implement the ideals of NCC which will help students achieve targets in their life. His message was read out during the programme. Registrar Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar and Campus Director GZSCCET Prof. Sanjeev Aggarwal appreciated the efforts of NCC wing of the University.

Chief Coordinator of this programme Capt. Rajeev Kumar Varshney briefed about the various activities related to NCC in the University.

PIT Nandgarh, Director, Prof. R. K. Bansal, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Paramjeet Singh, Prof. Anupam and Prof. Shweta attended the ceremony. The celebration was conclude with the vote of thanks delivered by Lt. Vivek.
