MRSPTU Marks World Science Day With Enthusiastic Student Participation

The Department of Mathematics at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, celebrated World Science Day for Peace and Development on Tuesday.

This global observance emphasizes the importance of scientific knowledge in fostering peace, informed decision-making, and sustainable development.

Highlighting the day’s significance, Dr. Mamta Kansal, Head of the Department, spoke about the vital role science plays in preventing conflicts and promoting peaceful solutions. “Scientific evidence is a powerful tool to inform decisions, encourage dialogue, and foster trust among nations,” she stated, urging students to embrace practical learning and participate actively in such initiatives.

To commemorate the day, the department organized an array of competitions, including a quiz, “best out of waste,” Rangoli, and poster-making, which saw enthusiastic participation from students.

Varnika Jain and Riya won first place in the Rangoli competition, with Jatin Garg and Sandeep Singh in second. In poster-making, Ramandeep Kaur secured first place, followed by Dalbeer Kaur in second.

The quiz competition was won by Raman and Shikha, with Beant Kaur and Jaskaran Singh taking second place. Jagmeet Singh claimed the top spot in the best-out-of-waste contest, with Sunveer Singh in second.

The winners received prizes from the department faculty, marking a joyful celebration of their talents and dedication. The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Coordinator Dr. Mukesh, who praised the organizers, participants, and winners.

MRSPTU Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kansal also commended the department for highlighting the importance of science in fostering peace and development.
