Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) is proud to celebrate the remarkable entrepreneurial achievement of Rohit Kumar , a 2020-2024 batch student of B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering, whose startup ScrollAR4U Technologies Private Limited has reached an outstanding valuation of Rs. 2.5 crore .
Rooted in Shekhpura village, Talwandi Sabo, Rohit’s journey is one of resilience, vision, and relentless self-belief. Losing his father — a dedicated heart and chest specialist — at the age of 8, he was raised by a strong-willed mother who became his source of inspiration and courage.
Fueled by a deep interest in technology, Rohit began exploring digital tools, content creation, and online learning platforms at the age of 15, acquiring practical skills well beyond classroom education.
Dr. Gurinderpal Singh Brar , Registrar of MRSPTU, and Er. Harjot Singh Sidhu, Director of Training & Placement and Sh. Harjinder Sidhu, Director Public Relations shared heartfelt words about Rohit’s journey:
“Rohit Kumar’s success is a perfect blend of perseverance and purpose. From dealing with life’s hardships at an early age to becoming a startup founder, he never lost focus. His sincerity, self-discipline, and eagerness to learn were visible from day one.
What stands out is his clarity of vision and consistency in execution. Students like Rohit are proof that with the right mindset and mentorship, any dream is possible. MRSPTU is proud to have played a part in shaping his journey. ”
Rohit’s startup, ScrollAR4U, is revolutionizing the Indian education system through augmented reality-based learning books and apps for Nursery to Grade 5, a patented approach.
These AR-powered books turn textbooks into interactive experiences by integrating 3D visuals and storytelling — making learning fun and immersive for children. What started as a one-person mission is today a growing family of 14 passionate individuals, including co-founders, directors, interns, promoters, and a full-time core team members.
“We are not just building a company; we are creating an ecosystem where education meets imagination,” said Rohit. “Through our books and mobile apps, we aim to support both parents and teachers in delivering a holistic learning experience. Today, we also offer internships and placement opportunities to students so they can grow with us, learn new technologies, and witness startup culture firsthand .”
The turning point in Rohit’s journey came during a Startup Idea Pitching Competition hosted by Training & Placement department, MRSPTU in April 2022, during his second year. His concept caught the attention of Dayam Naveen Kumar , founder of Potencia Academy , who came on board as the first angel investor and mentor — helping turn an idea into a full-fledged company.
Rohit credits MRSPTU for shaping his entrepreneurial mindset. “The environment here pushed me to think beyond textbooks. The startup cell, support from Training & Placement department, and continuous guidance from Harjot Sidhu-Director created the foundation I needed. My story started here, and I’ll always be thankful to the university that believed in me before the world did. ”
MRSPTU remains committed to cultivating an entrepreneurial ecosystem and guiding students to become not only successful professionals but also impactful leaders of tomorrow.
On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Baldi, Director, IQAC and Dr. Jyoti Rani, Associate Professor, Computer Science and Engineering Department were also present.
