In yet another major break-through, Crime Investigation Agency of Haryana Police has nabbed a most-wanted criminal, carrying a reward of Rs75,000 from Sonipat district. Police has also recovered a 9 mm pistol, a magazine and six live cartridges from his possession.
Giving this information here today, a spokesperson of the Haryana Police said that arrested accused identified as Kapil is a member of notorious Chitania gang. More than half-a-dozen cases pertaining to murder and theft of luxury cars were unearthed with his arrest.
Sonipat Police had announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000, whereas Delhi Police announced a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head. A team of CIA had nabbed the most wanted criminal following a secret input from an informer.
Court had already sentenced him life imprisonment after holding him guilty in a murder case in year 2014. But he got parole and came out from Jind jail in year 2018 and absconding since then.
During preliminary interrogation, Kapil confessed to having his involvement in over half-a-dozen snatching incidents of luxury vehicles at gun-point from different parts of Delhi which is being verified from Delhi Police. He said that they sold these vehicles in Nagaland after preparing fake documents with the help of gang members.
He had bought the seized pistol and cartridge through a fellow miscreant about 3 months ago in Lucknow. He also confessed to kill a fellow member of his gang.
Soon after absconding, Kapil came in contact with the Chitania gang and started working for this gang. The gang leader Sandeep Chitana was killed in a police encounter several years ago. Since his encounter, the gang is being operated by Sumit alias Vicky Chitana, Kali and Vijay and other fellow miscreants. Vicky is leader of the gang.
The accused also told that during his absconding, he has spent a lot of time in Lucknow and Uttar Pradesh besides Kolkata and Guwahati. It has also been revealed that this gang targets only expensive and luxury vehicles and snatched at gun-point.
The arrested accused has been taken on three-day police remand by producing him in the Court. The matter continues to be thoroughly investigated and efforts are on to arrest the other gang members.
