Raising questions on the Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal’s apology for the ‘unfortunate incidents’ of sacrilege, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha, said that it is very necessary to see what is the purpose of Sukhbir Badal behind this apology.
In 2015, in the Parkash Singh Badal government, a series of incidents of desecration of the sacred Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji took place but the Akali Government adopted a completely negligent attitude, which emboldened the anti-social elements. Sukhbir Singh Badal, then Home Minister of Punjab, used to say that nothing happens in Punjab without their knowledge and orders. But due to their negligence these incidents of blasphemy continued and the Badal government did not catch any of the conspirators and accused.
Sandhwan questioned that Sukhbir Badal has apologized for the sacrilege incidents for his political interests but who will apologize for the martyrs Bhai Gurjit Singh and Bhai Krishan Bhagwan Singh who were killed in a peaceful protest for the justice in sacrilege incidents. When will he apologize for Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura firing.
Speaker Sandhwan also said that as a devoted Sikh and believer of Blessed Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, I think that there can be no apology for the incidents of desecration of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. If Sukhbir Badal truly wants to repent for the crimes of blasphemy, then he should leave active politics and bow down at Sri Akal Takht Sahib and in front of all the Sikh Sangat as a humble Sikh of the Guru. In this his apology, sought by the President of Akali Dal Badal, he cried about his political degradation and asked people to once again hand over the state to the Badal family, so it was all a political drama.
He further said that Sukhbir Badal has added another crime to his pile of sins by playing political tricks under the pretext of pardon. History tells us that whoever tried to take such advantages in the name of Guru, they have never succeeded and never will.
