There is hope for Darshan Singh, a Nurpur Bedi resident, to who has been detained in Kuwait, to return home after the matter was taken up by Sri Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari with the Indian embassy officials in Kuwait.
Tewari has taken up the detention of Darshan Singh, with the Indian embassy officials in Kuwait. Darshan was allegedly duped by a travel agent and with the result he ended up being imprisoned in that country.
Tewari spoke to the officials in the Kuwait mission. He was told that the embassy was aware of the case and one of the senior officials had met Darshan Singh in detention.
Tewari was told that Darshan had been detained because of some dispute between the company he was working and the person who sponsored him. The prison officials told the embassy officials that they were trying to summon the sponsors but they had not been cooperating.
Tewari said, on the request of the Indian embassy, the local authorities have sought special permission from the Assistant Under Secretary in the Interior Ministry for Darshan’s repatriation to India. The Indian mission, the MP said, was following it up.
