In order to keep a check on the hoarding of the masks and sanitizers in Jalandhar, the district administration today made it mandatory for the stockists of masks and sanitizers to display their stock and price of these commodities on boards outside their shop.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting presided over by Divisional Commissioner Mr Raj Kamal Chaudhary in which Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal was also present.
During the meeting, it was decided that the teams of the Health department would ensure the meticulous compliance of these directions within 24 hours. The officers said that in wake of the Coronavirus the artificial scarcity of the masks and sanitizers, which have been declared as essential commodities, should not be allowed. They said that severe action must be taken against the violators who don’t comply with the law.
It was also decided in the meeting that massive sensitisation campaign in the rural and urban areas would continue to make the people aware of ways and means to check coronavirus. It was also decided that social gatherings with more than 20 people would be further discouraged in the district. The officers also appealed the people to not get swayed away with the rumours and rely only on authentic information coming from reliable sources.
On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) Mr Vishesh Sarangal, Mr Jasbir Singh, DCP Mr Arun Saini, ADCP Mrs D Sudarvizhi, SDMs Mr Rahul Sindhu, Dr Jai Inder Singh, Assistant Commissioner Mr Warjeet Walia, District Food and Civil Supply Controller Mr Narinder Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Chawla, District Epidemiologist Dr Shobna Bansal and others were present.
