Majithia expresses shock at Sangrur School Van Accident, demands case against guilty, audit of all schools

Chandigarh, February 15, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Shiromani Akali Dal General Secretary and Former Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia has expressed shock at school van incident in Sangrur where four children were charred to death and eight others were injured. The SAD leader also demanded registration of case against Deputy Commissioner and other guilty officials of the district.

In a condolence message, Mr. Majithia said that this horrific incident has taken away four innocent flowers of their families and he shares grief with bereaved families and prays to almighty to give strength to them to bear this irreparable loss.

Mr. Majithia said that this incident has once again exposed the callous and insensitive approach of the official towards issues which need careful attention in daily life. He said that an FIR should be registered against all the guilty officials in this case including school authorities, district education officials and administrative officials who failed to implement rules and regulations to ferry children to and fro from schools.

He also demanded cancellation of registration of school. He also termed the compensation of Rs. 5 lakh announced by government as utter disrespect to the families which shows insensitive attitude of the government.

Mr. Majithia said that time has come when the government should take strict action in the matter and audit of all schools should be done to ascertain who is following rules properly and who is not.

He said that the government should take stern action in this incident otherwise it will prove that it is only interested in lip service as was done in case of Jaura Phatak case of Amritsar, Batala fire factory blast case and several other cases where no action has been taken against the guilty and such incidents have become the order of the day.
