Ludhiana Docs and concerned citizens urge people to maintain harmony

Ludhiana, May 5, 2022 (Raj Kumar Sharma )
Doctors and concerned citizens have expressed deep anguish over the recent conspiracies to disrupt social harmony by engineering communal riots in different parts of the country. They appealed to the people to beware of such conspiracies and maintain harmony. History has shown that no one survives in a riot. These types of incidents can have serious physical and mental health consequences and adversely effect the economic situation.

Those who believe in communal harmony will have to come forward and speak out against such elements in order to thwart the nefarious designs of those who are inciting communal riots with the intention of dividing the country along communal lines. These views were expressed today at a meeting of some of the city’s doctors and concerned citizens affiliated with the Indian Doctors for Peace and Development and Social Thinkers Forum.

It was felt that a long battle would have to be fought against such an environment to maintain an atmosphere of mutual brotherhood and harmony. The spokespersons said that the government has completely failed to tackle unemployment and inflation and at the same time their promises to move the country forward on the path of development have turned out to be false.

The government is playing a Hindu-Muslim card to divert attention from all these. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence is shows his tacit support to these hate mongers. It was also observed that those who raised their voice for the cause of the people and for freedom of speech, food and clothing were being locked up in jails and had to stay in jails for many years without any charges.

It was decided in the meeting that first of all a seminar would be organized by a group of serious people to bring out the background of this issue and the truth about the intentions of the government.

The meeting was attended by activists of Indian Doctors for Peace and Development and Social Thinkers Forum including Dr. Arun Mitra, M.S. Bhatia, Dr. Gagandeep Singh, Dr. Rajinderpal Singh, Dr. Ms. Param Saini, Avtar Chibbar, Dr. Gurveer Singh, Dr. Suraj Dhillon, Dr. Ankush Kumar, Dr. Seerat Sekhon and Swaroop Singh.
