In a major blow to narcotics trade,,, Jalandhar Rural Police have made significant progress in their drive against drug smugglers with the successful seizure and freezing of properties worth ₹84,52,750 linked to offenders involved in four NDPS cases.
The Competent Authority, New Delhi, confirmed the confiscation of these properties over the last four months, following proposals submitted by the police.
Speaking to the media, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that the police have consistently tightened their grip on criminal elements, carrying out strict actions over the past four months.
the confiscations were executed under Chapter 5A of the NDPS Act, which empowers law enforcement agencies to seize, freeze, and forfeit properties acquired through drug money.The attached properties now stand in the name of the Government of India, and further legal proceedings, including auctions, will be carried out as per established protocols.
Among the confiscated properties, Harish Kumar alias Monu, a resident of Kapurthala, had his Maruti Swift Dzire, valued at ₹3,50,000, seized in connection with an FIR registered on March 15, 2020, at PS Shahkot. In another case, a plot measuring 9 marlas, valued at ₹52,00,000, was frozen in connection with Lakhvir Chand, a resident of Hoshiarpur, linked to an FIR registered on May 26, 2020, at PS Bhogpur.
Similarly, Prem Singh, a resident of Mehatpur, had his plot measuring 11 kanal and 1 marla frozen. The property, valued at ₹8,28,750, was linked to an FIR registered on July 19, 2013, at PS Mehatpur. Furthermore, Sonu Kumar, a resident of Maqsudan, had a residential house measuring 5 marlas, valued at ₹20,74,000, frozen in connection with FIRs registered on September 16, 2005, March 15, 2009, and September 19, 2008, at PS Adampur and PS Noormahal.
Jalandhar Rural Police reaffirm their zero-tolerance policy against drugs and remain committed to disrupting the financial networks of drug traffickers.
Citizens are urged to report any suspicious activities to the police, contributing to the collective fight against drug-related offenses, said SSP Khakh.
