Jalandhar Rural Police busts Gang of Vehicle Snatchers, recovers Innova snatched from Moga

The Jalandhar (Rural) Police today busted a gang of notorious vehicle snatchers with the arrest of two snatchers along with an Innova car bearing registration number PB-32-H-4032, which was stolen from Moga around 24 hours ago.

Divulging the details Senior Superintendent of Police Jalandhar Rural Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal said that they had received a message from district Moga Police Control Room on April 20 that one Innova Car bearing registration number PB-32-H-4032 has been stolen by some unknown persons.

He said that on a tip off today that the stolen vehicle has crossed Kavan Wala Pattan Naka and was heading towards Jalandhar, SHO Shahkot Mr. Pavitter Singh and SHO Nakodar Mr. Zamil Mohammed, started checking of vehicles coming from Moga side at village at village Ladhra. Mr. Mahal said that as the vehicle headed towards Naka its driver speeded up the car and tried to break the naka besides trying to hit SHO Nakodar and his Police party.

However the Senior Superintendent of Police said that police personnel showed their alertness and tried to stop the said Innova Car with the help of barricades.

He further said that the driver of Innova immediately turned the direction of the car upon which ASI Mr. Harbhajan Lal, in order to save the life of his fellow police personnel and stop the car, fired two bullets with his service revolver, one of which hit the rear tyre of the car. Mr. Mahal said that though the tyre of car busted, but the driver managed to reverse it and drove the vehicle on wrong side.

The Senior Superintendent of Police further said that SHO Nakodar along with police party chased the car and trapped at a dead end road in village Nurpur Chatth all the four people in car came out of it and ran towards different directions in order to flee from there. Mr. Mahal said that at the same time SHO Shahkot and his police party along with some villagers also reached at the spot and nabbed two out of the four accused were arrested.

He said that two arrested persons have been identified as Jagtar Singh @ Nikka s/o Amarjit Singh r/o Sadha Wali Basti, district Moga and Jaskaran @ Ajay s/o Charanjit Singh r/o Vishwkarma Nagri, district Moga whereas the remaining two who fled from the spot have been identified as Jyoti s/o Puran Singh r/o Lal Singh Road, Kotkapura, district Moga and Karma s/o Jang Singh r/o Sadha Wali Basti, district Moga.

The Senior Superintendent of Police said that a case FIR No. 44 under section 307/379/411 IPC has been registered in PS Sadar Nakodar, district Jalandhar (Rural) against all the accused and thorough probe into the matter was being done. Mr. Mahal further said that all out efforts were being made to arrest the absconding persons.
