Jalandhar Police deploy UAVs to keep eagle eye over violators of curfew

In a landmark initiative the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has roped in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) for keeping a strict vigil over the violators of norms in the Commissionerate Police.

Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today said that the UAV would be used to keep an eagle eye over the violators who would be flouting the curfew norms.

They said that the UAVs would be stationed at strategic locations especially around vulnerable areas to keep an eye over the entire situation. They said that violations, if any, noticed by the UAV would be dealt as per the law of land.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that the move was aimed at ensuring strict compliance of curfew. They said that the curfew has been imposed for the betterment of people so that the spread of Covid 19 could be checked effectively. The officers said that every effort was being made to check the spread of this pandemic adding that these UAVs could cover the area of 2 kilometres in all directions and could go up to height of 200 metres.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police visited BMC Chowk, Namdev Chowk, Press Club Chowk, Sri Ram (Nehru Garden) Chowk, Luv Kush (Milap) Chowk, Phagwara Gate, Madan Flour Mill chowk, Railway Station, Damoria Pull, Kishanpura chowk and Doaba Chowk to analyse the entire situation.

Commissioner of Police said that till now since imposition of curfew 119

FIRs have been registered, 152 violators have been arrested, 151 vehicles have been impound and 1651 traffic challans have been issued.
