Jalandhar Police conducts special house to house checking in Ganna Pind – nabs six with heroin, illicit liquor

In an unprecedented action aimed at checking the supply line of drugs in the district, the Jalandhar Police conducted a special ‘House-to-House’ search operation in Ganna village near Phillaur during which six persons were rounded up for suspicious activities.

Divulging the details, the Senior Superintendent of Police Jalandhar (Rural) Mr Navjot Singh Mahal said that the search operation that continued for more than three hours every inch of the infamous village was checked minutely by 200 Policemen led by Superintendent of Police Mr RPS Sandhu, Mr Parminder Singh and AIG STF Mr Harwinder Singh.

He said that during the search operation Anti-sabotage team and Dog Squad also accompanied the force and conducted thorough checking of every house in the village. Mr Mahal said that the Police sealed all the entry point in the village at 5 am and conducted this operation which lasted till 8:30 am.

The Senior Superintendent of Police special thrust was also laid on houses on suspected drug peddlers for which special raids were made. He said that during the checking the teams also had interaction with villagers during which their support for wiping out curse of drugs was solicited. Mr Mahal said that prominent people of the village highly appreciated the step of Police and joined during search operations.

The Senior Superintendent of Police said that the villagers also assured fulsome support and cooperation to Police for this noble cause. Meanwhile, he said that during the raid six suspected persons including Gurpal Singh, Sukhwinder Kumar , Mrs Balwinder Kaur, Mrs Bholi, Jatinder Singh and Rajnish Kumar were apprehended.

Mr Mahal said that during investigation five grams of heroine was recovered from Gurpal Singh,nine bottles of illicit liquor from Sukhwinder Kumar and six bottles of illicit liqour was recovered from Balwinder Kaur adding that FIR has been registered against them at Police station Phillaur.

He said antecedents of remaining three were being verified adding that such operations would continue in coming days to ensure that Jalandhar was made a drug free district.

On the occasion Deputy Superintendents of Police Mr Davinder Attri, Mr Harneel Singh and Mr Surinderpal besides others were also present.
