The Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma on Friday handed over wheelchairs to the needy spinal cord injury affected persons.
Mr. Sharma along with Additional deputy commissioner (Development) Mr. Kulwant Singh and ADC (G) Mr. Jasbir Singh gave wheelchairs to Ms. Mandeep Kaur and Mr. Manmohan Singh who had suffered serious spinal injuries in the mishaps.
said that the district administration is taking all out efforts for the betterment of such persons. He said that they are an integral part of our society and enjoy the same rights as others do.
He exhorted the people to also share reasonability towards such persons.
Mr. Sharma hailed the contribution of office bearers of The Spinal Cord Injury Association for creating awareness among the people affected spinal cord injuries and helping them and asked others to follow them in their lives.
Mr. Sharma assured fulsome support to the association from the district administration.
The president of The Spinal Cord Injury Association Mr. Parvinder Singh Sonu and Mr. Gurwinder Singh said that the association is working for the people affected spinal cord injuries for the last five years.
Mr. Sonu said that both needy persons were bed-ridden for the past few months and had no money to buy a wheelchair.
