Jalandhar DC orders permanent stationing of mobile medical teams in flood-hit villages

Aiming to provide quality medical facilities to the people stranded in flood-hit villages at their doorsteps through the boats, the deputy commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma has ordered the permanent stay of mobile medical teams in these villages.

The teams would help to check the spread the water-borne diseases in the flood-hit areas.

Presiding over a meeting with the officials from health department in Lohian, Mr Sharma said that 21 mobile teams have to stay in these villages from 9 am to 5 pm and have to visit house to house on the boats to give all possible medical facilities to the people at their doorsteps.

Mr Sharma added that these boats are carrying doctor and medicines in sufficient stock to facilitate the people.

He warned that any kind laxity attitude would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against them.

The deputy commissioner further told that a team of doctors and nursing staff has also been deputed in camps and evacuated people are being examined in these camps.

He said that Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mr Paramvir Singh has been appointed supervising officer for keeping close vigil on the working of medical teams.

Mr Sharma reiterated that the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed for bailing out the people in this hour of crisis.

He said that the administration would leave no stone unturned to help the people affected by floods.
