Jalandhar DC and CP review arrangements for Independence Day at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today said that scintillating performances by students from various educational institutions would be the hallmark of the State level Independence Day celebrations in which Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh would unfurl the national tricolour.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police, who reviewed the arrangements for the mega event here today, said that the district would once again uphold the glorious tradition of organizing the best function to commemorate this auspicious day.

They said that the cultural events to be presented by the students would aptly showcase the rich cultural legacy of state besides focusing on the theme of ‘unity in diversity’, which was the very basis of our country. Mr. Sharma and Mr. Bhullar further said that Independence Day celebrations was the most important event for all of us as on this day our country attained freedom from the yoke of British imperialism on this day.

Lauding the organizing committee for making stupendous efforts to gear up for this mega event, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that the fantastic performance of the students was the result of hard work of the officers of district administration along with Lieutenant Colonel (Retd.) Manmohan Singh and Assistant Director Youth Services Captain Inderjeet Singh Dhami.

They said that this team roped in the educational institutes of the city to give their best performances to celebrate this event. Meanwhile, Mr. Sharma said that the officers of the district administration have been assigned various duties for the smooth conduct of this event on Independence Day.

On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police Mr. Sachin Gupta and Mr. Parminder Singh Bhandall, Assistant Commissioner Ms. Shayari Malhotra, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jalandhar Mr. Harcharan Singh, District Education Officer Mr. Harinder Pal Singh and others.
