Jalalpur Case: Child Rights Commission directs Administration to provide plot to victim family

The Chairman of Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and ex-IPS officer Rajinder Singh on Monday directed the local administration to provide a plot to the victim family whose six-year old daughter was raped and murdered in a nearby village few days back.

The Chairman Rajinder Singh, Vice Chairman Sebi Thomas along with member of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Yashwant Jain visited the village to express sympathy with the bereaved family. The team of State and Member of NCPCR also held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait and SSP Navjot Singh Mahal to review the progress of ongoing proceeding and status of the case.

During meeting with the civil and police administration, Rajinder Singh also instructed to fulfil all the promises made by the Government with family at the earliest.

Apprising the commission, the Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait mentioned that the District Administration is being initiated the process in this regard and the plot would be provided to aggrieved family within a month. She also informed that fixed deposits of Rs. 50,000 each in the name of five daughters of the victim family as announced by the Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora to be given from his own pocket would also be handed over to the family in few days.

After interacting with the family, the Member of NCPCR Yashwant Jain also expressed satisfaction over the prompt action taken by the police in the case besides assuring the family the National and State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights are fully committed to ensure speedy justice to the family.

Meanwhile, SSP Navjot Singh Mahal informed the Commission that the Challan in this case is being presented by the police in coming days so that the trial could be put on fast track to ensure exemplary punishment.
